I’m moving this blog. Actually, I’m combining it with my readers’ blog. I had intended to do a separate blog for writing and reading, but there’s too many crossover posts (plus double the upkeep). So, please follow me to ConnieCox.com
Not that different from this one. Just change the .net to .com and there you’ll be.
(I’ll keep this one up for a while. I just won’t be adding to it and you’ll see duplicate posts on the other blog.)

The good thing,–no the GREAT thing–about being able to work on your own computer is that you can save money by fixing and upgrading things yourself.
The bad part of being able to work on your own computer is that when you take it apart and then it doesn’t go back together right, you’ve no one to blame but yourself.
My desktop computer (which I originally built myself many, many years ago), was getting a little slow on the uptake. So slow that I knew it needed a mother of a motherboard makeover before it was too late. (If you want to know how I knew, just ask. Otherwise, I’ll try to skip all the fun and fascinating geek stuff and get on with this story.)
So anyway, I bought some new parts. That’s when I discovered that the old parts that I thought were ‘okay for now’ were so far past their prime, that the new parts and the old parts wouldn’t work together.
So, I bought MORE new parts. Yes, by now, I could have bought a whole new computer, but then where’s the fun in that? The real reason, as I explained to my non-techy DH, is because I have lots of older expensive software that I don’t want to upgrade.
What I ended up with was a way kewl computer that now streams video like you wouldn’t believe. Why do I need video to write? So that I can enjoy great and inspiring clips like this one: Elizabeth Gilbert on Genius
Was it worth loosing a whole day of writing? Yes. I think so. If nothing else, I got in touch with my geeky side and who doesn’t feel better equipped to tackle their manuscripts after that?
